Wooo! So as I'm typing this blog post, hours ago I finished A Firm Place to Stand the Audiobook. And holy cow, I'm riding a crazy little high right now. It's embarrassing in retrospect, but after two years the audiobook is done. It feels good, real good. I learned a lot in the process, and overall I'm proud of myself for finishing.
Now while I know I can finish an audiobook, believe it or not taking two years to do one audiobook is not industry standard. And I don't think I'll be pursuing any more audiobooks at this moment. Perhaps if I get to a point where I can hire an editor, I would re-consider. But on the bright side now I know that I don't want to be an audiobook voice actor/editor. And, that's okay. I'm glad I tried it, and I hope my author is happy with the end product. Now I can focus more of what I do really want.
I recently watched this video series all about focusing yourself to be become successful (to clarify I define success as getting paid doing what you love.) Now when I first got into voice acting, I didn't know exactly what the voiceover industry had, and I wanted to be available for everything voiceover related. But I've spent some more time in the voiceover world, now I know what I want to be more focused in. Just to be clear, I'd still take a good paying audiobook job if I was offered one, but my time is better spent looking for voiceover projects that I want to do.
Ace of Hearts Podcast
We're still in production for Ace of Hearts, I'm talking with an Entertainment Lawyer for the contract I have with iHeartMedia and Seneca Women, this is just common practice. I'm not worried about anything.
However I do need two more guests to close the season. I'm looking for someone with an obsessive hobby that affects the people they date or their dating life in general. And I'm also looking for a fellow asexual for my season finale.
I'm hoping to have all the episodes ready by the end of the month! But we'll see, it's all going to depend on finding my last two guests.
Scare Actors Status
I'm still submitting Scare Actors to film festivals. I haven't heard anything yet but I'll be sure to let everyone know as soon as I hear anything!
Voice Acting
No new jobs yet. But I'm submitting to a few auditions every week. And I'm even applying to agents! I'll let you know if anything changes, otherwise I'll just keep trying. Hey, sometimes that's all you can do, try.
